Title: Unintentional Landscapes
Print only: $75
With white frame, white matting, and hanging wire: $150
These little nature-inspired paintings were born from curiosity and experimentation with watercolors. I love not knowing exactly what will happen when the water and color hit the page. The process is a kind of meditation, of being in the moment without any expectations. But, once an image emerges, I’m a little more intentional with the shapes and lines, using smaller brushes or other tools to define or mute the colors. I also think about each landscape as if someone is looking through binoculars, so I keep each about the same size and shape. The edges are rough, resisting perfection like the landscape itself. The result is a painting that resembles a place you’ve been, a place you’ve seen in a magazine or photo, or a place you’ve dreamed of.
